Our Herd
Currently we are raising the Duroc and Berkshire Pig Breeds on our 40 acres on the western plains of Elbert County, Colorado. Our hogs have plenty of room to roam, root, and play. We finish our hogs with sweet potatoes and a four way sweet mix to add a well-marbled, sweeter meat.
While we finish construction on our Butcher Barn right here at H Bar S Ranch, we provide a local butcher to process your pig. By providing a processing facility on the same property that the animals are born and raised, it not only saves our customers money but it also puts less stress and discomfort on the animals.




Buyer’s Guide of Pork Bundles

We raise pigs to market weight which is on average 250-300 pounds, known as “live weight.” At this weight they are ready to go to slaughter where they are humanely killed and cut into halves of a carcass. Here they are reweighed and this is called their “hanging weight” or “carcass weight.” Ideally, the hanging weight is about 70-75% of the live weight.
Lastly, the carcass is now butchered into various cuts of meat. During this cutting process weight is lost again, from fat and meat trimming for ideal taste. This loss can be another 15-20%.

We charge $5/pound. The price for each Pork Bundle is based on the pig’s hanging weight. This includes: price of animal, cost of raising it, non-GMO feed.
Processing Fee
We will have a flat rate for processing once our Butcher Barn is established, till then we are using a third party butcher, that we trust, to process your pig. Their pricing will be provided when you personalize which cuts you would like in your pork bundle.
Average processing fee: $300 for a whole pig

Plan on approximately one cubic feet of freezer space, for every 25 lbs of meat (about the size of one milk crate). A whole pig, after processing, will approximately take up 5 cubic feet of space.

After reserving your pig either through this website (click on the ‘Reserve your Pig’ button) or email, we will contact you within 48 hours to collect your deposit to reserve your pig and help you fill out your cut sheet to personalize your pork bundle.
We will have two rounds of pigs ready for butcher this June and July. Plus a third round ready at the end of the year. Reservations will be a first come, first serve basis. Thank you!
